The success of Kosovo statistics
Kosovo's Map has been selected as the Map of the Month by the European Forum for GeoStatistics
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) represented by cartography staff attended the regular annual meeting organized by the European Forum for GeoStatistics (EFGS) and Eurostat.
This meeting took place in Prague, Czech Republic, on 24-26 October 2012.
EFGS has started as a collaboration between the National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) in the Nordic countries in 1998, on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and statistics.
Currently EFGS has national contact persons from 32 European countries, having regular conferences and annual meetings. While, the Steering Committee consists of the national contact persons from NSIs that participate in the ESSnet project GEOSTAT 1A - representing census data in a European population grid (Grid model), funded by Eurostat.
At this meeting, KAS' representatives presented the map and the report on the extent of the population according to the Grid model per km ² in the Republic of Kosovo, based on 2011 Census data.
Based on the model of building of the data in GIS and visualization in general, EFGS has selected the Kosovo map as the Map of the Month.
EFGS aims at beeing a global forum and umbrella organisation for conference in Brazil in 2014.
