Kosovo Agency  of  Statistics  together with  the Ministry  of Agriculture,  Forestry  and Rural Development will start with the Agriculture Pilot-Census project in Kosovo.

Given  that  the  Census  of  Agriculture  will  provide  information  on  producers  /  agriculture holdings  in Kosovo, dealing with agricultural activities as their primary or secondary activity, the Pilot- Census (Pilot-Project) aims to test the methodology that will be applied in November 2013, when will commence the Agriculture Census.  

Meanwhile,  this Agriculture Pilot-Census  covers  all municipalities of  the Republic of Kosovo and  it will use the methods, based on samples,  in which the households have been selected. In each municipality have been selected two enumeration areas (EA) in rural areas and one EA in urban areas. While within selected enumeration in rural areas, every third household has been selected, as the sample.   

By means of Agriculture Census, ASK provides reliable statistical information necessary for the planning and implementation of agricultural policies and other policies, as well as for scientific researches.

Agriculture Census also establishes a database with agriculture holdings and statistical farm register.
This will  enable  the development of  the  agricultural  statistical  system  in Kosovo  in  compliance with EU legislation.  
Agriculture Census  provides  information  on  the  structure  of  agriculture  holdings within  the territory  of  the  Republic  of  Kosovo,  harmonized  with  EU  standards  and  international recommendations. Agriculture Census has not been conducted in Kosovo since 1960.

The  information  gathered  during  the  Census  is  confidential  and  protected  by  law.  In accordance with the provisions of the Law on Official Statistics of the Republic of Kosovo and the  Law  on  Protection  of  Personal  Data,  the  Agriculture  Census  preserves  complete confidentiality of individual data of agriculture holdings.

The Pilot-Census will be carried out from 1-15 November 2012.

Agriculture  Census  is made  possible  with  the  help  of  the  donors,  through  which  has  been collected a budget fund, that is managed by the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The donors  are: Kosovo Government, European Commission,  SIDA  (Sweden), DFID  (UK),  SDC
(Switzerland), Luxembourg and Denmark.
